Wellness Exam & Vaccinations
Our primary goal is to prevent illness for your pet. Vaccinations and exams are one way to keep up to date on your pet's health. We recommend keeping your pet's Distemper and Leptospirosis vaccines up to date, and don't forget, an updated Rabies vaccine is required by law for all pets. We recommend Yearly exams for patients 1 to 6 years old and 6 month exams for patients 7 and older. Since we understand that life can be busy, we will send reminders for wellness exams and vaccinations as they are needed!
We recommend preventive for parasites and other diseases, such as tick borne illnesses. There are a lot of products available and we realize it can be overwhelming. Just ask a staff member, we are happy to explain all the products and their functions to help you decide what best suites you and your pet.
However, not all illness are preventable. We are capable of diagnosing and treating most of the common conditions that we encounter. If it is beyond our scope, we have direct relationships with referral centers that have board certified clinicians and special diagnostic equipment.

Dental Health - NOT just for humans!
Dental hygiene is an important part of your pet's health. Let us examine your pet's teeth and gums to help determine if there are any dental issues you should know about. After a brief visual examination, we may recommend a more detailed examination (which requires sedation), a dental cleaning, possibly dental radiographs, or other options for at-home dental care. Even if you think your pet's teeth and gums are fine, we can offer expert advice to help you keep them that way!
During a dental prophylaxis procedure (the fancy way of saying 'a teeth cleaning'), many steps are taken to ensure your pet will wake up with a healthier mouth. To get that extra clean feeling, we will use an ultrasonic scaler on the teeth. This removes all of the built up calculus and tartar, which can build a "shelf" for bacteria to sit and grow. This bacteria can cause infections and even abscesses, which if left untreated, can be associated with other serious health problems such as heart and kidney disease. After a thorough cleaning, we will then polish your pet's teeth with a special animal friendly tooth paste, to help keep them clean and shiny. Dental radiographs will be taken of every tooth to help us see beneath the surface, where problems like to hide from the naked eye.
Dental health shouldn't be taken for granted. Fortunately, many dental problems can be managed through at-home care and by bringing your pet to us for regular dental checkups and teeth cleanings. We want your pet to live a long, healthy life, and we understand that maintaining a healthy mouth is part of that. Your pet's health is important to us, so let us help you with this commitment. Call today to discuss your pet's dental care needs and how we can help.

Diagnostics
We are capable of performing many in-house tests that help us to diagnose many health issues a pet could have. We pride ourselves in being able to perform radiographs, blood tests, intestinal parasite screenings and many more tests with a quick and accurate diagnosis.
This being said with today's technology we have the advantages of saving you money by sending labwork packages off, just ask a staff member what these packages include. Although annual blood work is not required, we highly recommend it. Having annual blood work can give us a baseline of what is normal for your pet, so if problems arise, we can find a solution to better suite your pet's needs.

Radiology
Radiography is a valuable diagnostic tool in veterinary medicine. As we continually strive to offer the highest quality medicine and diagnostic testing, we are pleased to offer radiology services as a means of providing excellent care to our patients.
A radiograph (sometimes called an x-ray) is a type of photograph that can look inside the body and reveal information that may not be discernible from the outside. Radiography can be used to evaluate almost any organ in the body, including the heart, lungs, and abdominal organs, as well as the bones.
Radiography is painless, safe, and completely non-invasive, and it uses only very low doses of radiation. Because the level of radiation exposure needed to perform radiography is very low, even pregnant females and very young pets can undergo radiography. Radiographs can be used to evaluate bones as well as the size, shape, and position of many of the body's organs. The size of organs is important because some medical conditions—such as kidney, heart, or liver disease—can alter the size of these organs. The shape and position of organs can be altered or distorted by certain medical conditions, including intestinal blockage or cancer. Tumors, depending on their size and location, can also sometimes be detected using radiography. Radiography can also be used to diagnose bladder stones, broken bones, chronic arthritis, certain spinal cord diseases, and a variety of other conditions.
Radiographs are an important tool that can help us make a correct diagnosis for your pet. Our radiology service is staffed by caring, skilled professionals who will provide state-of-the-art care with compassion and expertise.
